TRAFFIC CHANGES FOR THE INDEPENDENCE PARADE

The 50th Anniversary of Independence Parade will commence this evening at 6:00 at Kensington Oval.

Immediately following the parade, some 19 organisations, along with the Massed Band of the Barbados Defence Force, the Royal Barbados Police Force and the Barbados Cadet Corps, will execute the ceremonial march to Independence Square, Bridgetown.

On leaving Kensington Oval, the troops will march onto President Kennedy Drive, turn left onto Fontabelle and travel through Cheapside, Chapel Street, Prince Alfred Street, Broad Street, Trafalgar Street and Bridge Street before proceeding onto Charles Duncan O’neal Bridge. They will then move onto Probyn Street, then Lower Bay Street, and Fairchild Street. It will culminate in Independence Square.

Members of the public are advised that these roads will be closed from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. Officers of the Royal Barbados Police Force will be stationed along the route to assist and direct motorists, and persons are asked to comply with the officers.

Traffic will be allowed to flow as normal around Kensington Oval.

All Barbadians and visitors are invited to come out and participate in this historic event.
